Call 800-314-7003! What is a surety bond? A surety bond protects one party from default on the part of another party where a legal commitment is involved. Let's say you own a brewery. There are numerous health and safety regulations pertaining to that industry, and the government is serious about you sticking to the code. How can it get you to do that? Well, there are always fines, but that raises the problem of what to do if the fines are unpaid. How does the government collect those? That's where the surety bond comes in. The surety bond can be used as a security deposit, and will allow the government to collect from it if necessary. If a claim is made, the surety company will put up the money in your name, though it will not take full responsibility for the claim. Rather it only takes responsibility for putting up the money, which is in reality is a short-term loan which has to be paid back. Pro Surety Bond has over 25 years of joint industry experience. Fort Atkinson is a city in Jefferson County, and it is this 52nd most populous community in the state of Wisconsin. The city was named after General Harry Atkinson, who commanded the US forces during the Black Hawk War. The original fort at the site was called Fort Koshkonong, at the confluence of the Rock and Barks Rivers. The settlement grew rapidly during the middle of the nineteenth century, mostly from immigrants from New York State and New England, the latter of which brought their Yankee culture. Fort Atkinson is located on the Rock River several miles upstream from Lake Koshkonong.
What are some types of commercial surety bonds? There are probably thousands of commercial surety bonds, if you take the entire country into account. Some of the more obscure are reclamation bonds, which are required by state regulatory agencies for businesses that operate on public lands, and run the risk of doing damage to the environment. The reclamation bond is in place so that the government can collect if the lands have not been put back into the condition the way they were before the business began using them. They are used often by mining companies or similar entities. Call the Fort Atkinson Surety Bond Pros Today at 800-314-7003
What's the difference between a surety bond and a letter of credit? Letters of credit are a common alternative to surety bond, but how much of an alternative? They function in a similar way: to provide a guarantee. But that's where the similarities end. One of the most important differences between surety bonds and letters of credit is that when you make a claim against a surety bond, the surety company must investigate the claim. With a letter of credit, the claimant merely has to submit the requisite paperwork, and the bank, which is the party that issues the letter of credit, pays the claim, no questions asked. If you have a problem with that, you could take the claimant to court.
The problem is that banks are not in the guarantee business, so it's just an afterthought for them. Another probably with letters of credit is that they usually have to be secured 100%. That means you have to pledge your assets for the duration of the term of the letter of credit. This can tie up a lot of your funds, and make it difficult for you to obtain working capital or credit. Surety bonds on the other hand, are in most cases issued unsecured, because the surety company does an investigation of your financial strength before it will issue one. This means of course that not everyone can get a surety bond, so perhaps in cases like that a letter of credit is to your advantage. Give us a call at 800-314-7003.
